AUS-Alliance Française partnership: 3 key gains for students in UAE
New MoU brings French culture to American University of Sharjah
The American University of Sharjah (AUS) has embarked on an exciting collaboration with Alliance Française of Sharjah, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week.
This partnership aims to promote French language learning, foster cultural exchange, and enhance AUS’s language offerings.
Held at the AUS campus, the ceremony was graced by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi and included key figures like Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Dr. Tod Laursen, and representatives from the French and Sharjah cultural landscape.
Workshops, Events, and Certifications
The MoU opens doors to a range of initiatives that go beyond conventional classrooms. From hosting cultural events and workshops to offering internationally recognised French certifications, the collaboration focuses on enriching the learning environment at AUS.
“By collaborating with Alliance Française, we aim to immerse students in the richness of French and Francophone cultures,” said AUS Chancellor Dr. Tod Laursen. He emphasised that such partnerships prepare students for success in a multicultural, interconnected world.
New vistas in Research and Careers
According to Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, this initiative strengthens Sharjah’s commitment to a knowledge-based economy by equipping students with language skills vital for global engagement.
“Learning French is more than communication–it’s a gateway to understanding Francophone cultures and unlocking international opportunities,” he stated.
The MoU also paves the way for collaborative research and academic exchanges that align with Sharjah’s progressive vision.
Enhanced student facilities
As part of the agreement, Alliance Française staff and students will gain access to AUS College of Arts and Sciences’ high-quality facilities. This infrastructure ensures an engaging and robust educational experience for learners, fostering an atmosphere where academic and cultural excellence thrive.
AUS: A tradition of excellence
Founded in 1997 by Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, AUS embodies a blend of academic excellence and community spirit. Renowned for its internationally accredited programmes, the university provides students with the tools to succeed globally while embracing principles of meritocracy and openness.
With this new partnership, AUS further enhances its reputation as a hub for linguistic and cultural diversity, preparing its students to excel in an increasingly globalised world.
